Tredici: Gnome Espresso and Winebar

ST, BW, I'm catching up to you! ST posted about this recently on her blog, link should be on my companion's list on the side. Being one of the cafe buddies, she got the job of grabbing a table for us at this busy little cafe because we were late and she was early. That was one crazy Saturday, I remember it to be so activity-packed, there was little room for mismanagement and timing. We ended up being late, and I have a feeling it was my fault (or was it traffic?) but I cannot remember.

By the time we got there, ST was already enjoying her iced tea with lemon sorbet, looking every bit the relaxed classy lady having tea on her own in a quaint cafe. It's hard to pull off a "I'm not a loner!" pose... I must say, I suck at it.

So we squeezed in opposite her, with a dog sitting next to me at the table beside us. Lots of people were wandering around the sidewalk sipping takeaway coffees and bloody marys, so it was really good that ST got there so early.

Why, hello there. Do I smell like cat?

It was past lunch time by the time we got there (I only finish work at 2pm on Saturdays...), which was fine because the cafe still had lunch items and specials on their boards and menus.

We ordered a selection of deli and cheese, with prosciutto, salami, pickles, pate, a soft cheese which I cannot remember, but it was some sort of blue vein cheese, and a hard cheese... (aged cheddar?).

Also went for their chicken baguette, which I don't remember to be very special at all, but it was nice. I realised after eating subway that I'm not really a big fan of that dry texture in bread rolls or baguette, preferring the soft fluffy sort of bread, or the chewy texture of a good sourdough.

Their coffee blend: casablanca~ how romantic.

And it was off to badminton after that! On a side note completely unrelated to cafe and food in general...

Meet my lovely Purple.

She's a limited edition Zforce~ not one you'd mess with =) She's so beautiful, but had a couple of clashes with TW already... battle scars, I tell myself, not scratches...

I have had a lot of practice eating out alone - but it's always better with companions :).
I wouldn't have been able to order the board alone and that would have been a tragedy (when you finally come over for fondue we shoud have a cheese night as well, I have a craving (or a dependancy on cheese one or the other :) ))

That's the good thing about eating with others- you get to order stuff to share... like at 4-14 :D It still astounds me how much we ordered that night, haha.

Cheese night sounds good!!
